“Mum, Dad, please be quiet while K9 laments the truth about why we all truly die alone, with no hope at all.”
Following a suspicious incident regarding the Doctor’s TARDIS, Lizzie and Iris end up back on Earth, and together they move to London. There, they meet a girl from Lizzie’s dreams – literally. As these three girls begin to awkwardly muddle through their lives, eventually they decide there is a missing ingredient – love. So, three women begin their quest to join a world preoccupied with Romance – however, they will soon discover that love isn’t like it is in dreams… . “My name is Mary, and I’m pregnant, and you’re going to take me to Bethlehem. Okay?” Lizzie, Cioné and Iris are Christmas shopping, on the gigantic Christmas-shopping-centre that is 25-B3LHL3hem-12 (known as Bethlehem for short), while across the galaxy, the Doctor is flying to his family for Christmas. But there is a hitch, when a very pregnant woman, Mary, materialises on board. With the due date approaching, and Christmas looming, the Doctor and Mary must quest to get to Bethlehem, before the baby is born, and so the Doctor can get home for Christmas... “I’m not doing this out of revenge. I’m not doing this out of pity. I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do.” Many centuries ago, a deal was struck. A life was born into neglect, in a world of sprawling death and decay. The life was entrusted - and the child grew. But the child caused lies to twist, a convoluted web encompassing the whole of the Doctor’s family. And the child was clever. She could read people, she understood how they worked, and she knew exactly how to ruin the life of anybody who hurt her. And as the Daughter of Love, the Daughter of Thought, and the Daughter of the Universe, are brought together for the first time, the child is going to rain hell on the Doctor. “What now, hmm? You have to do it – because otherwise, what was the point in all this? What was the point in everything you’ve ever done, if you’ve rested your entire life on this moment?” The Empire is still being ruled by the formidable Evangeline Cullengate - and now it is time for the revolution. But Cullengate’s power is stronger than ever before, and the Doctor cannot do anything to stop her. It seems that to win, it is time for the Doctor to fight the housing crisis. But it is the night that old conflicts shall come to a head, and lies shall be uncovered. Three people shall stand, looking out over the darkness. One of them is burying old secrets. One of them is preparing their revenge. And one of them is simply trying to get things right. But for once, it might not even be possible to get it right. |
With the Doctor, Lizzie, Cioné, and Iris having settled down, joined by a host of friends and foes, this run of specials tells the story of any family struggling through life - a tale of laughter, tears, betrayal, and acceptance.
It is produced and written by Peter Darwin, with Zoe Lance (The Sarah Jane Adventures, False Hope/ Forevermore) guest-writing. |
