Time At the Museum - Introduction (By The Genie)
SYNOPSIS:
The Doctor takes Robin to the Museum, a great collection of alien artifacts on a planet dedicated to the even greater space-time pioneer, Cerscillus. But a touching tribute soon turns into a sinister fight hunt for the source of strange occurrences, as exhibits leave their stations... As well as discovering the truth behind the Museum, Robin is also faced with the dilemma of whether or not to trust the Doctor - just who is he? Why does he come to Earth? And why has he really taken here to the Museum? |
PREVIEW:
“You know how when you want to travel somewhere, it’s because you’ve seen it on a calendar or something?” asked the Doctor. “Well, here we go. Nice starter, I thought. Welcome to the Museum.” “The Museum?” “The Museum. He pointed to the stretch of buildings. At the end of the horizon, they could just about make out the curvature of the planet. “So vast and so unique that it doesn’t need a name. The greatest collection of famous artefacts the universe has ever seen – a wonderful taster of what the universe has to offer.” The Doctor whipped two strips of paper out of his pocket, holding them up in the air with pride. “And we’ve got tickets!” |
I came up with this idea about three years ago when I was watching Night at the Museum. And that's basically all it was. I thought "Doctor Who should do Night at the Museum", and then it just sort of happened like this.
But it' a relatively short, light story. No masterpiece and nothing thorough, but, I hope, a taster for what the series has to offer, and a bit of calm before the storm. Pay close attention to little details because they'll all mean something at some point.
I suppose the intention became really picking apart what the Doctor loves about Earth. With Eight being such a poetic, romantic Doctor, I'd like to believe he's more aware of that than any of his predecessors. He has fine tastes, but they're quite hard to pin down. A lot of this is about him, about his relationship with the universe, and his relationship with the Earth.
As this is the opening episode, I've also got the delight of showing you the TARDIS interior I've made for him, but I've been told by Chris to save that for the big reveal.
Time at the Museum will be up on Saturday 28th February
